Postbox contact sync
Google and Zimbra contact sync for Postbox is now supported by the addon.
Update 2009-07-12. This feature has moved out of testing into production (0.8.11). Thanks to everyone who provided feedback!
Postbox is a mozilla-derived mail client with loads of features. The company behind the client, Postbox Inc is a San Francsico-based startup founded by former Mozilla employees.
The Zindus addon currently uses the same Address Book backend for Postbox and Thunderbird, so if you read ‘Thunderbird’ in the FAQ, it’ll probably apply to Postbox too.

So far, so good. I’ve set it up and have sync’ed my contacts. Address sync is working as well. Looking good!

Firstly thanks Zindus!! I am very happy to have my contacts synced again since moving from Thunderbird to Postbox!!!
Do you plan to also sync profile photos and the birthday field that google added last month?

@Dale, both birthday field and photos will be synced in a forthcoming release, for timeline see the roadmap.

Installed the update this morning and have been getting assertion failure (previously e-mailed to you) and then it sits there and says Thunderbird is loading. I will uninstall until I hear from you. Al

@Al, got your email. It’s definitely a bug in the addon and from the line number it appears to be Zimbra-specific. To help get to the bottom of it, would you be willing to email through the logfile? See: how to report a bug.

To Zimbra users who encounter the assertion failure reported by @Al (contactconverter.js:327): the bugfix is in the current testing release and will be in 0.8.12.

It would be great if the extension would synchronize each contact’s picture between Google Contacts and Postbox Address Book. Any chance of this being implemented?

Unfortunately, Birthdays don’t sync yet, but that’s already on the roadmap.

@andreas, yes, birthday field is currently supported in the testing release and it will be in the next production release - 0.8.15.
